John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs he composed, the majority of which were set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born singer-songwriter who fell in adore with Colorado. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have been a major influence on many to move to the state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. In 2011 Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's first inductee. Denver has become the image of Colorado for many people around the world. Through my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado the first words they'll say is Oh John Denver. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a solo artist after having worked with small folk groups. The song was composed with Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that the song could be a hit single. He recorded it within a couple of days of performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
